PASSION FRUIT EXPORT.
TRIAL SHIPMENT PLANNED. TEST OF ENGLISH MARKET. A trial shipment of passion fruit will be despatched from Auckland to the United Kingdom toward tho end of March. All arrangements will be made by Mr. W. H. Rice, chief orchard instructor under the Department of Agriculture. It is intended that up to 200 cases of passion fruit will be bought locally. The variety of fruit to be used and the packing method to be adopted have yet to be decided. On arrival at England the passion fruit will be distributed by ti»»» Fruit Control Board. Representations from the Auckland Fruitgrowers'. Council are responsible for the trial. A Government guarantee was at first requested, but the Minister of Agriculture decided that the shipment should bo made by his department, the fruit being purchased outright from the growers.
