FARMHOUSES BURNED.
BUILDING AT HIKUTAIA. [BY TELEGEAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HIKUTAIA, Friday. An eight-roomed house, owned by Mr. J. Handley, of Paeroa, was totally destroyed by fire this afternoon. The house, which is situated behind the Hikutaia Dairy Factory, was occupied by a son of the owner, who was working on a distant part of the farm when the outbreak occurred: The chimney was the only part of the building left standing, the house being destroyed in less than 30 minutes. Nothing was saved. PREMISES NEAR WHXTXAHI3A. OCCUPANTS AWAY, MILKING. [I!Y TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WBITIANGA. Friday An eight-roomed house at Coroglen, formerly the mill manager's residence and occupied as a farmhouse by Mr. M. Bakich, was destroyed by fire yesterday morning. The occupants were at the milking shed when flames were seen issuing from the roof. The building was insured for £450 and the furniture and effects for £IOO in the South British Office.
