TREATMENT FOR TRUNKS.
Neglected leather that has become very hard and cracked should be treated with a mixture of one part vinegar to two parts of linseed oil. Rub this well into tho leather and finish by polishing with a soft cloth. When tho leather is very rubbed, give the bad places two or three coatings of white of egg. Leave to dry thoroughly, then apply the oil and vinegar mixture. If straps are very stiff and hard, soak them for several hours in a good lather of hot water and soap. Hang them up to dry slowly, away from tho fire, and when dry rub with linseed oil. Brown boot polish makes an excellent dressing for bags and trunks if they are in a good condition. If they are not, they should be restored with one of the above treatments before the polish i» used.
