QUIET PERIOD IN HAMILTON

EXODUS FROM THE TOWN. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Friday Hamilton has been extremely quiet during the Christmas vacation, and although a largo number of motorists have passed through the town on the way to tourist resorts further south, little business, except in connection with meals, has been done by them. During the week prior to Christmas the shopkeepers did very well, especially on Christmas Eve, when a late night was observed. Hundreds of Hamilton residents are enjoying- the holidays at the Waihi, Thames "oast and Raglan beaches, while many j> -o away motoring in different parts of the North Island. The only attractions in Hamilton have been the South Auckland bowling centre's tournament, and a few cricket matches. The New Year holiday period pronftses to be a quiet season. The Caledonian Society's sports Will be held at the Lake Domain on Tuesday, and cricket matches . between Hamilton and Maniapoto and MorrinSviile will be played at Seddon Park. Several local bowling tourneys have also been arranged.
