PHOTOGRAPHING FINISHES. THREE CAMERAS USED. The Belgian Jockey Club still photographs finishes for the benefit of tho judge, though it is only when they are very close that they are referred to by that official for tho purpose of giving a decision. Three cameras are placed in line at a determined height and distance at either side of the course, and in lino with tho finishing post. A thin, invisible thread is stretched across the courße at a cftTefully calculated distance and height in front of, and in line with, the winning post, so that immediately it is breastfed, and beforo even it is actually broken, it sets in motion an electrical contrivance which operates all the cameras simultaneously. The object of having more than one camera on cither side of tho course is to obtain the best possible results. By photographing from both sides there is no possibility of one horso being hidden by another, which is one of the many insurmountable difficulties with which the judge has to contend. At a Sydney course somo time ago (remarks tho Sydney Referee) it was contemplated having all finishes photographed, but, after arrangements were made, and experiments tried, the idea waß abandoned. The trials were not a success. BLOODSTOCK SALE. Messrs. Alfred Bucklaiid and Sens, Ltd., conducted a 6al.e of bloodstock at Ellerslie yesterday, Mr. C. Brookes officiating as auctioneer.
