Even the outstanding programmes broadcast during Christmas appear to be surpassed bv the features for this week-end. Several watch-night services are being relayed from the churches this evening and the midnight celebrations in Queen Street will be picked up from IYA. Only on rare occasions are the bells of Christchurch Cathedral heard in full peal, but bv tuning in to 3YA they may be heard for the last halt-hour of the old year this evening. During the holidays results and descriptions of several sports events will bo on the air. On Monday and Tuesday IYA will relay the race meetings at JMleisiie and 3YA will send out the Canterbury Park Trotting Club's meeting from Add'neton. Cricket enthusiasts wdl also be able to hear how the Wellington and Canterbury Plunket Shield match at \> ellington is progressing.

Another short-wave test will take place at 11 p.m. (Australian time) on Monday, when 2LO, London, will be relayed to Sydney station, 2FC, Results of the test may be heard in New Zealand! aliout 1.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

With thjs exception of to-morrow evening dance music, will be a feature of both New Zealand and Australian stations for the next three days. Innumerable New Year parties are expected to take advantage of the dance music to be relayed from the leading Auckland cabarets this evening, while those with larger sets can hear the latest "hits" played by the best Australian bands.
