SPORTS NEXT THURSDAY. AUSTRALIAN COMPETITORS. As a portion of the team which represented New South Wales at the recent championship meeting of the Amateur Athletic Union of Australia and New Zealand will reach Auckland on Wednesday and remain here until Friday, an evening sports meeting will be hold on thn Domain Cricket Ground next Thursday, when the visitors will be seen in action. _ The events to bo decided "Will be 100 yds. handicap, 440vds. handicap, BBoyds. handicap, one-mile relay race and three-miles cycle handicap. Entries will close at 32, Albert Street, Auckland., on Wednesday next at 5 p.m. sharp. The sports will commence on Thursday at 5.20 p.m. and there -will be no charge for admission to the ground. Mr. Richard Coombes, president of the Amateur Athletic Union of Australia and New Zealand, left for Sydney by tho Ulimaroa yesterday morning. The members of the Queensland team were passengers by the same vessel.

There are good entries for the various events and plenty of sport is promised for visitors. The axemen's events and the Highland dancing competitions always command a great deal of interest at the Mauku Sports. The Recreation Ground is an ideal picnic spot, ai}d there will be a special train on Monday.
