BRABIN SHIELD MATCH.
WET WICKET AT CHRISTCHURCH.
[EY TELEGRAPH- —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday.
The annual match fo*' tho Brabin Shield between Canterbury and Wellington junior representative teams was commenced at Hagley Park ground this afternoon, and will be continued to-morrow. Heavy fain fell throughout the morning, and it was not until nearly 3.30 p.m. that play was commenced on a sodden wicket. Wellington won the toss and elected to bat. It was soon evident that neither L>owl;rs nor batsmen were" at home on the slippery ground. The bowlers had the greatest- difficulty in handling the ball, while the creases afforded none too secure a foothold for ihe batsmen. When stumps were drawn the score was 113 for four wickets.
