AUCKLAND AND OTAGO.
PLAY COMMENCES TO-MORROW
PERSONNEL OF THE TEAMS. The first Flunket Shield match to be played in Auckland this season will commence at Eden Park to-morrow, when the Auckland representatives will meet Otago. The match is arousing considerable interest and a large attendance is anticipated. Although Otago will not be represented by its strongest eleven, the team, after its fine display against a strong Canterbury side, is "expected to make a good showing here. The first appearance in Auckland of L. C. Eastman, the English coach, who was considered unfortunate in just missing a century m the recent Canterbury match, will add considerable interest to the game. Following are the teams: — Otago. —A. W. Alloo (captain), L. C. Eastman, J. McMullan, A. Galland, R. Torrance, V. G. Cavanagh, S. Elmes, W. Vorrath, A. Knight, vR. Cherry, J. Blair. W. Douglas. The twelfth man is not. yet known. Auckland.—C. C. Dacra (captain), E. H. Bowley, H. D. Gillespie, I. W. Cooper, A. ¥. Weir, A. Anthony, R. W. Rowntree, D. R. Garrard, A. Williams, A. S. Player, J. E. Mills. Twelfth man, A. M. Matheson. Messrs. W. A. Duff and N. B. Levien have been appointed umpires. The Otago team will arrive this morning.
THE CANTERBURY MATCH. VISITING TEAM SELECTED. The following players have been chosen for the Canterbury touring team which will commence its match with Auckland on January 6:—M. L. Page (captain), C. G. Crawford. C. E. Evans, G. R. Gregory, I. M. Hamilton. W. Hayes, J. Jacobs, W. E. Merritt. J. Newman, D. C. Nixon, R. Read, A. Roberts. Tho team is the same as that which played Otago, except that Crawford replaces Oliver. Both these players have represented New Zealand.
