EARTHQUAKE SHOCK.

RESIDENTS AWAKENED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday. A slight shock of earthquake awakened many pooplo in Christchurch and surrounding areas shortly before two o'clock this morning, but it was not assevere as some of the minor North Canterbury shocks. The tremors appeared to come from the direction of Cheviot.
