i. - WALKER SHIELD WON. AUCKLAND TEAM'S SUCCESS. CANTERBURY EASILY BEATEN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PKESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Thursday. Auckland proved the champion team of the New Zealand City and Suburban Associations by 'scoring its second victory in the triangular tournament, defeating Canterbury by an innings and four runs. Yesterday Canterbury had been dismissed for 99 to which Auckland replied with 262. At the drawing of stumps Canterbury had lost seven wickets foi; 10S. Play to-day was delayed until the afternoon by rain. On resuming S. Besley (13) and V. Robertson (9) made a good stand, but after reaching 32 Robertson was smartly stumped by Badeley, oS Kerr. Gordon and Quaid did not last long and the innings closed for 159, Besley boing left not out with 35. Kerr and A. Watts bowled well for Auckland. As Auckland defeated Wellington in tbe first round, to-day's victory gave the team the Walker Shield in two straight out wins.
