YOUNG WOMAN DROWNED.
WASHED OUT FROM SHORE. THE BODY NOT RECOVERED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COKEESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. While bathing in the sea on the southern side of jfaritutu between seven and eight o'clock last evening, Miss Florence Henchman, aged 22, daughter of Mr. John E. Henchman, Spots wood, was washed out from the shore and drowned. •Mis 3 Henchman, fier younger brother, aged 10, and another boy aged 15, went to bathe at the locality mentioned. She was not a very experienced swimmer and it is surmised she was caught in the currents, which are somewhat treacherous at times in that locality. After being in the water for some time the two boys came out and on turning round to look for Miss Henchman observed her floating some distance from the shore.
An alarm was at once given and th« Harbour Board's launch was sent to search the waters in the vicinity where the body was seen, but no trace could be fouud. The police were notified and with relatives and friends of Miss Henchman organised parties to patrol the beaches along the New Plymouth waterfront and southward from Paritutu, but the body has not yet been recovered.
