KNOCKED DOWN BY CYCLE.

DEATH OF A CHINESE. CONFLICT OF EVIDENCE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH. Wednesday. An inquiry was held to-day into the death of Young Foo, a Chinese, aged 71 years, in Palmerston Hospital, as the result of injuries received through being knocked down by a motor-cycle at Ohau on December 18. The evidence of cyclists was that Young Foo, when a cycle was approaching, started to run across the road, hesitated and was struck. A companion of the Chinese denied that deceased left his oide of the road, and said the cyclist did not swerve nor sound his horn. The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence, and said ho did not intend to comment on the other evidence, which was conflicting.
