OPERA BY WIRELESS.

SUCCESS OF " MARITANA." Complete success favoured the broadcast from IYA last evening of the opera " Maritaaa," which was heard " on the air" for the first time in New Zealand radio history. Several listeners-iu reported exceptionally clear reception, even the individual voices in the choruses being audible. Especially fine was the performance of the Bosworth-Towßey-Hemus Instrumental Trio, whose numbers interspersed the vocal items. The blending of voices in " Turn. On, Old Time " and " Oh, Maritana," was particularly impressive. The songs, " Scenes That Are Brightest," and " Let Me Like a Soldier Fall," were also splendid interpretations of W. Vincent' Wallace's music. Listeners may regard last evening's entertainment as one of the best sent out from th} Auckland station.
