LITHUANIAN REVOLT.
OFFICERS MADE t DRUM. FROM BREAKFAST TO PRISON. PREMIER'S RUSE SUCCEEDS. >./ By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Sun. LONDON, Nor. 30. The Riga correspondent of the Daily Mail reveals the humorous side of the revolt on Saturday at Kovno, Lithuania. A regiment with tanks and armoured cars concentrated at one of the fortresses, and the officers, under Commandant Petrutis, sent an ultimatum to the President, M. Smetona, and the Premier, M. Waldemaras demanding their resignation. The Premier invited the officers to breakfast and discussed a bloodless capitulation. He served out quantities of vodka and champagne, and left his guests carousing while he sought his old friend, General I'lehavicius, who gathered together some loyal Flying Corps officers, and went to the assistance of M. Waldemaras. Peeping into the dining room, M. Waldemaras saw that his guests were drunk. They were loaded into motorcars and taken to prison. It is reported that they have already been executed. General Plehaviciua has been reinstated as Chief of Staff, but another mutiny is expected.
