AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. ACTIVITY IN BANKINC LINES. ' _j • *'/. ■■ After a day or two of comparative inactivity sales were very brisk on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. War Loan, 1938. per cent., sold at £B6 17s 6d, an increase of 2s 6d on the price ruling last week. Auckland City, 1932, 6 per cent, debentures changed hands at £lO2, and continued in demand at that figure. In banks there was marked activity. Two lots of Commercials of Australia were disposed of at 29s Id. New South Wales, which sold on Wednesday at £45, advanced to £45 ss. New Zealands continued to harden, and changed hands at the late call at 60s 6d Unions of Australia sold at last week's price of £l4 10s. lu insurance business was done in New Zealands al the morning call at 40s 3d. and buyers continued to offer that figure, with sellers at 40s 6d Mosgiel Woollen* had sale at £6 12s 6d In breweries buyers oi New Zealands advanced to 42s without lesult. In miscellaneous, Hamilton Theatres ad vapced from 15s at the beginning of the week to a sale at 16s. Hay ward's Pic tures were quoted, ex dividend, at 18s 6d and 17s 6d. New Zealand Drugs, which sold a month ago at 64s 3d, changed hands at 665, and business was done in Milne and Choyce debenture stock, at the most recent rate of 23s 4d. Sanford, Ltd., maintained their current price of 20s, and Taranaki Oils at 10s 9d were a shade weaker than at the beginning of the week. , In mining the only business was in Moanataiaci, contributing, at Is 2d.
