ST. ANDREW'S DAY.
GATHERING OF SOCIETY. There was a large gathering of Scots* men in the Scots Hall on Wednesday evening when St. Andrew's Day was celebrated with au appropriate programme by the members of the St. Andrew's Society of Auckland. The president, Mr. J. B. Petersen, occupied the chair. A long and Varied programme of music and dancing Van presented.'' Great applause greeted the procession of the haggis, preceded by Pipp*Major Ferguson, which was tho event of the evening. Numerous solos and concerted items were supplied by the Beresford Street choir, under Mr. W. Gemmell. Dance music and two selections were played by the society s Orchestra, under Mr. W. Ewart. PipeMajor Ferguson played for the champion dancer, Miss Gwen MacNaughton, in the •word dance, and for the Highland schotlisclie and eightsome reel, which were fianccd with great enthusiasm.
