DIVIDENDS TO ABSENTEES. GOVERNMENT DROPS CLAUSE. (Received November 30, 11.50 p.m.) A. and N.Z. CANBERRA, Nov. 80. ■ In the House of Representatives, after a lengthy and acrimonious debate, the Prime Minister. Mr. Bruce, announced that the Government did not intend to press the clause in the Income Tax As sessment Bill exempting companiei; from paying taxation on dividends paid or due to absentee shareholders. The clause had met with strong opposition, from both Labour members and a number of Government supporters.
