THE SINGAPORE BASE.
HELP FROM NEW ZEALAND. CONTRIBUTION OF ONE MILLION. [BY TELEGRAPH. SPECIAL REPORTER. ] VrELLINGTON. Wednesday. New Zealand's contribution toward the cost of the Singapore Base is provided for in the Finance Bill, which was read a first time in the House to-night. The bill seek;', to give the Minister of Finance authority to pay. from the revenue account of the Consolidated Fund without further appropriation than this authority, the sum of £1,000,000 to the Imperial Government as a contribution from the Government of New Zealand toward the cost of establishing the base.. The clause provides that the payment shall.be made in such amounts and at such times as .may be arranged between "the respective Governments.
