MOTORISTS AND CROSSINGS.
g; r —Xn your issue of November 30 appears a letter under the above heading, signed " Safety." If our friend is suffering from liver or nerves there would be some excuse for such a bias as is manifest in the letter. Level crossings are such a glaring danger that a letter refening tu them and suggesting some remedy to minimise that danger should not receive such a broadside. His observations about " motorists never looking, but rushing madly on." gives one some idea of las fairness as a critic. If " motorists " were not as a general class very observant and careful, there would be scores more accidents than there are now. It is an education to sit beside a careful driver and see how the general public " jay-walk ' across streets, step out from footpaths without looking, and in many ways show an utter disregard for the safety of their own persons. It is a fact that all the " stop " notices in the world and " keep to the left " signs will not make any difference to some people, but it is just as well to observe that the culprits are not as a general rule "motorists" but the class to which " Safety " belongs. Careful Motorist.
