ROCK STRIKES TRAIN.
INCIDENT NEAR MANGAWEKA. DELAY OF THREE HOURS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.} TAIHAPE. Tuesday When a north-bound mixed goods train, duo at Taihape at 10 p.m., was about a mile past Mangaweka last evening, a huge boulder rolled down from a bank and came to rest against the waggon behind the engine. Tho train was pulled up and the , guard walked to Mangaweka where he procured the assistance of a permanent-way gang. Eventually, the boulder, which weighed about two tons, was pushed into a hole dug in the side of the bank and the train proceeded on its journey, arriving at Taihape at 1.38 a.m. The north-bound limited express was held up at Mangaweka while the lino was being cleared and arrived at Taihape about an hour and, a half late. As the result of the delay caused by tho small slip on the Main Trunk line between Mangaweka and Utiku, on Monday evening, the limited express, which left Wellington on Monday evening, arrived in Auckland at 11.15 yesterday morning.
