POWER BOARDS' WORK.

SCHEME FOR CO-OPERATION. NOVEL SUGGESTION MADE. An innovation in power board administration was suggested at the meeting or the Waitemata Electric-Power Board yesterday. It was decided to write to the Auckland and Franklin Power Boards inviting them to each send two representatives to the meetings of the Waitemata board with a view to engendering greater co-operation and knowledge of various power hoard activities. Discussion on the matter was raised when Air. G. Trcvithick moved that the Power Boards Act bo amended to increase the existing number of members of each board by two, who would bo nominees from adjacent boards, and who would have the right of discussion, but no voting power. Mr. Trcvithick said the purpose of the motion was to link the various power boards together in order to bring about a spirit of common aspiration and co-operation. It was felt no» body of men had a monopoly of brainsand wisdom, but all could learn from tlio o.xperieuco of others. B,v linking all boards as suggested, valuab'e time and money would undoubtedly be savedas a result ol the higher standaru ol efliciency that must necessarily accrue. The chairman, Mr. J. W. Havden, said the only point about the suggestion be did not like was to ask the Government to amend the Act. He agreed with the idea in its broad sense, but did not anticipate they had a chance of making it compulsory. -Mr.'Trcvithick said he would extend the same principles to City Council administration. suggesting the Mayors of the various boroughs should be invited to attend meetings. Mr. A. E. Grecnslade said ho saw no necessity for the motion. The board was constituted on democratic lines, and he believed it would be dangerous to tamper with the present state of affairs. Mr. S. E. Kcnnings said the suggestion was one of great educative value, and he thought it should be sent (o the executive of the Power Boards' Conference for consideration. It was decided that the best thing to do at present would be to communicate the suggestion to the Auckland and Franklin boards.
