INTERNATIONAL RUGBY. WAR AT AUS DEFEAT WALES. (Received November 27, 7.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z.-Sun. LONDON, Nov. 26. The New South Wales Rugby team today defeated Wales by 18 points to 8. Tho Waratahs' team was;—Ross, E. Ford, Wallace, Sheehan, King, Lawton, Meagher, Woods, Blackwood, Judd, Finlav, Storey, Brockenridgc, J. Ford, A. Tailored. BOXING MATCH IN AMERICA. RI.SKO DEFEATS UZCUDUN. (Received November 26, 7.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. NEW YORK, Nov, 26. A heavy-weight boxing contest of 10 rounds between Hisko and Paolino Uzcudun resulted in a victory for Hisko. Uzcudun was warned by the referee several times for hitting low. It is not considered that Kisko will challenge Tunney. INTER-STATE TENNIS MATCH. NEW SOUTH WALES LEADS. A. and N.Z, MELBOURNE, Nov. 26. The inter-State tennis tournament for tho Mars Buckley Cup commenced in fine weather. The chief features of the day's play were the matches in which Kalms, New South Wales, defeated Patterson, Victoria, 2—6, 12—10, 6—l ; Crawford, Now South Wales, defeated Hawkes, Victoria, 11—9, 4—6, 6—l; and O'Hara Wood, Victoria, defeated Schlesinger, New South Wales, 6—3, B—6. As a result of the further matches New South Wales defeated Victoria by 13 rubbers, 277 games, to six rubbers, 242 games, and won the Mars Buckley Cup. In the singles Crawford (New South Wales) defeated Patterson, 9—7, 2—6, 6—2; O'Hara Wood defeated Cummings (New South Wales), 2—6, 6—l, 6—4; Schlesinger defeated Fitchelt, 6—3, 5—7, 6—l; Kalms defeated Hawkes, 6—4, 3—fa, 6—4. In the doubles Patterson and Hawkes defeated Crawford and Hopnian, 6—4, 7—5; Fitchett and Clemenger defeated Schlesinger and Kalms, 2—6, 6—3, 15—13. In tho women's matches, Victoria defeated New South Wales by six rubbers, 161 games, to four rubbers, 148 games. The play, without being high class, was exciting. The weather was fine and the courts were in good condition.
NEW SOUTH WALES IN BRISBANE. (Received November 27, 7.5 p.m.) A. arid N.Z. BRISBANE, Nov. 20. The first Sheffield Shield match of the season, Queensland against New South Wales, was begun to-day. Queensland has lost eight wickets for 354 runs. H. Oxenham made 63. Gough 38. Rowe 96 not. out, Nothling 46, Benstead 44. The weather is hot and the wicket was good. The Queenslanders put up an excellent fight and met the bowling confidently. The fielding was somewhat below the New South Wales standard. Oxenham and Nothling played dashing cricket. Rowe played a fine punishing innings. MELBOURNE GRADE CRICKET. BATSMEN IN GOOD FORM. (Received November 27, 5.5 p.m. ) A, and N.Z. MELBOURNE, Nov. 2G. In the Melbourne grade cricket matches today, for North Melbourne against Hawthorn, Drerof made 124; for Melbourne against Collingwood, Armstrong made 147; for South Melbourne against University, Park made 144. CRICKET IN SOUTH AFRICA. (Received November 27, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. CAPETOWN. Nov. 26. In the cricket match against the Free State team at Bloemfontein, the Marylebone Cricket Club team lost seven wickets for 592 runs and declared (Legge 120, Holmes not out 279). Bowling for Free State, Coon took three wickets for 80 runs, and Travers two for 67. Free State, in their second innings, had lost two wickets for 69 runs when stumps were drawn. Their first innings yielded 192 runs.
