WELLINGTON NOTES.

THE FORM AT LEVIN. DESERT LAD'S PERFORMANCE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Monday. At the Asbhurst meeting on Wednesday R. Reed will ride Royal Game. Imitation and Tom Byrne. H. Wiggins will be on Anolo and Flying Shot. R. Reed's mounts at the Takapuna meeting on Saturday will be Royal Mint. Hipo, Town Bird and Prodice. Town Bird, with Reed up should be one of the well-fancied ones for the Takapuna Plate. Deluge will not be a starter at Ashhurst on Wednesday H. B. Lorigan sent the chestnut home after the Levin meeting and be might not be started at Feilding. G. New receive, an addition to bis team on Saturday from Christchurch. in Bolero, n three-year-old eelding by Kilbronoy from Mazurka, awnsd by Dr. M. G. Louisson, part owner of Blimp. Bolero started sis times last season nncl three times in vhis season in the South without getting into a place. G. New stated > Levin that Crown Area was making a good recovery from the trouble which affected him at Christchurch and ho will be in steady work again soon. On the flat Mister Gamp ran some fair races and alwry appeared to be finishing on. He has quickly made good as a jumper and should pa\ his way in this department. He took somr liberties with the hurdles at Levin but his display for a. novice was a good one. Mister Gamp is an Australian-bred horse by Bronzetti from the Earlston mare Brolly. Revel, has made a quick recovery from the injury he received just before the last meeting at Trenthani when be fell while schooling. Ho should win an event before long. Desert Lad. winner of the Maidan Race at Levin on Saturday, is likely to prove a good advertisement for his sire Acre, Bis trainer, J Coyle. stated that the three-year-old had shown exceptional promise from his earliest days and in his first gallop had performed particularly well. To give a big field a Btart and run round them and win as he did a Levin stamps Desert Lad as something above the average. Royal Picture is proving something of a puzzle to hi 3 connections. He may be raced next in middle-distance events. At Levin ho looked in great order and after being unlucky in running was in the van less than a furlong from the post. In the final struggle however, he faded out into fourth place, tie may do better in races in which he can be given time to get on his feet. Decoy Bird looked light when paraded at Levin on Saturday, but this may be accounted for bj tb fact that he was just recovered from a 3evere cold. He may prove a profitable proposition placed with care.
