COMMERCIAL INSTRUCTION
COURSE AT HIGH SCHOOL. MINISTER AGREEABLE TO TRIAL. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. In response to the latest representations of the Te Awamutu District High School to have provision made for a courso, oi commercial instruction at Te Awamutu. the chairman of the School Committee, Mr. G. S. Clarke, has received tho following letter from the Minister of Education : " I have to say that the question of providing commercial instruction in district high schools has been under the consideration of the department for some time. You will realise that it is impossible for me to consider an application from one district high school without also ascertaining' what is involved in granting a similar request in tho case of every district high school in the Dominion. "It is' evident that the provision of special teachers and of the necessary equipment would involve tho expenditure of aconsiderable sum of money, but as I desire that the country children shall liavo equal advantages of those enjoyed by town children, I am prepared to give the proposal a trial. The department will be communicating presently with# the Education Board regarding the matter " ~
