POLITICS, SPORT AND WORK. EQUALITY WITH EUROPEAN. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Nov. 19. The criticism of the Maoris passed by Mr. J. A. Thomson, a former member of the Western Australian Legislative Council, has been attacked by several newspaper correspondents. One. signing his letter " Pirfte," claims that the Maori has made his name as a fighting man and a loyalist, and has demonstrated his citizenship in all walks of lifo as ,lawyer, doctor, clergyman, and politician. In statesmanship, sportsmanship and the professions he has won tho right to bo considered the equal, if nof the superior, of the European. ,
