SEQUEL TO A FALL. SMOKER SERIOUSLY HURT. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN WHANGAREI. Sunday. An unusual accident occurred at Port* land when Mr. Norman Lightband, a ? e 50, of Grove Street, Edendale, Auckland fell down a tank while smoking a p'P 6 The force of the fall drove the stem * the pipe through his throat to its f u extent, a distance of 2|in., and then snapped off, inflicting a dangerous wound. An operation was performed a the Whangarei Hospital and the sto o removed. The patient is making F l °* gresa.
