DEAN AS AN OPTIMIST.
THE IDEALS OF YOUTH. ■' I do not believe one bit in the degeneracy of the rising generation," said Dean .Carnngton—who is about to leave for England—in his farewell speech in Christchurch last week. "Of course, the young people frisk and frolic about as all young things do, and make mistakes, .and so did we. Our younger generation is growing up with the highest ideals." When he went Home, the dean said he would " boost " New Zealand for all he was worth. He would tell them what a fine group of business men they had, who gave of their time freely for the Mother Church. He would tell of the spiritual harmony reigning in the clerical society, and he would tell of the loyalty of tho New Zealander. " I believe that New Zealand is the most loyal part of the whole Empire," concluded the dean. "If there was a revolution in England and they deposed the King, I believe we would send a cable Home and ask him to come out here."
