PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

THE MODERATOR-ELECT. PROFESSOR W. HEWITSON. [by association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. Professor William Hewitson, master of Knox College, Dunedin, was unanimously elected moderator of next year's General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, which will be held in Auckland. Professor Hewitson was born in Victoria 67 years ago and before entering the Presbyterian ministry he was an officer in the Union Bank of Australia. From 1888 to 1895 lie was minister of the church at Brunswick, Victoria, and in 1895 he was appointed minister of Knox Church, Dunedin. He has been master of Knox College since 1909 and has also been a member of the Council of Otago University and the Senate of the University of New Zealand. He is about to retire from Knox College.
