FALL INTO STREAM.
CHILD'S NARROW ESCAPE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] KAITAIA, Friday. A girl, aged three years, daughter of Mr. Berridge, manager of the Kaitaia •branch of the Bank of Australasia, had a narrow escape from drowning a few days ago. The child was crossing a narrow private bridge over the Maungawhero Stream, under the charge of a nurse girl, when she fell into the stream. The cries of the nurse girl were heard I by Mrs. Wigley, who lives near-by, and she went promptly to the rescue. She plunged into the stream, which was several feet deep, and drew the child out, none the worse for its unpleasant experience.
