MAKE YOUR OWN BATH SALTS.

With Christmas drawing near we are all thinking of the Christmas presents wo must give. Why not make your own bath salts and some for your friends, too ? Tied with bright ribbons, they make a most attractive and inexpensive gift. Here's an excellent recipe. Put required quantity of carbonate of soda crystals into an enamel basin. Drop in a few drops of sandalwood oil and stir with a wooden

spoon. Add your perfume—either oil of rose geranium, oil of verbena, or oil of violets (about one teaspoonful to a pound of crystals) and restir. Colour with a littlo strong tea, strained through fine muslin. Tea tints the salts a deep pearly colour, and will not come off in the water or harm tho skin, as a dye might. For containers, use any attractive glass bottle or jar with a tightly-fitting top. Those which once contained bought bath salts are tho best, of course, You can molco your bottles pretty by painting them with a flower pattern in oil paints or by giving tho top knob a tic-up of gay ribbon.
