COCAINE SMUGGLERS.

DRUG IN DRIVER'S SEAT. Tho curiosity of Marseilles detectives was aroused recently by .a motor-car covered with mud, which seemed to them to bo always entering or leaving tho town. They arrested thrco traffickers in cocaino on a big scale. Tho detectives stopped the car, not being satisfied with tho explanations given by the occupants. They made a search of their rooms, and discovered 111b. of cocaine. It was learned that the drug had been bought at Darmstadt for 150,000 francs (£1210) and taken to a village near Kaiserslautern, where it was taken in charge by Ernest Robein, a merchant of lieichsoffen, in the Lower llbine. ltobein's motor-car was specially fitted up for the traffic. The driver's seat was hollow, and thero was sufficient space to hold 221b. of cocaine. Associated with Robein were Dreveny and Velsen, and it is suggested that the trio had counted on selling the cocaine at £164 per pound, a profit of 50 per cent.
