GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES. / ■■■ " [by telegraph.—special reporter.] WELLINGTON. Friday. Mr. A. Harris (Waitemata) has been advised that authority for the payment of several subsidies on work projected in the Auckland district has been given by the Minister of Public Works. I A pound for pound subsidy up to £7O is granted out of the unemployment relief -fund for improvements to O'Neill's Point Cemetery, estimated to cost £l4O. This is additional to a previous subsidy for the same work. A subsidy of pound for pound up to £403 is given for improvements to the Stanley Bay Park. There is an offer of £3OO from the Auckland City Council on this work conditional upon a Government subsidy, while an additional £IOO has been raised publicly for tennis court formation and £6O has been contributed by the Stanley Bay Park Improvement Association. The cost of the additional work at Stanley Bay is estimated to be £926. A previous subsidy of pound for pound on £585 was made for tK!s purpose.
