In the course of an address to the members of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Sir Alfred Mond, M.P., said: " Surely a race which performed miracles of. organisation during the war can organise the Empire as an economic unit. This problem' is an urgent ono if the Empire is going to continue. " The world is tending toward a group of Americas and toward European economic complexes If Britain joins the latter Canada is likely to join the American complex. Australia is equally likely to participate in a Pacific Ocean complex
" The result would be the destruction of the Empire's fabric, which lias taken centuries to build up. The economic uuity ol . the Empire depends upon an exchange oi British manufactures for the material of the overseas Empire."
