Mr Bruce said ho was anxious to join in the commemoration of the great day. if it could possibly be done, but he took the stand he did in an endeavour to abide by the spirit, as well as the letter, of the no-licence ordinance. The Gov-ernor-General made his acceptance contingent upon Mr Bruce's acceptance.
