A CAKE HINT.
When a level cako is required for icing, a slice has often to be cut off the top. To prevent this waste, make a hole in the middle of the raw cake mixture before putting it in tho oven, raising it up round the sides of the tin. Place the cake in a good oven, and as the middle rises first, the cake will have a nice flat surface by the time it is cooked.
