UNLICENSED PICKERS.
CASES BROUGHT AS WARNING
A warning to unlicensed oyster-pickers was issued in tho Police Court yesterday when W. B. Lees and Y. Sing were charged with taking oysters from an Auckland fishery without <a- licence.
It was stated the offences occurred at Kawati Island, where the landowners seemed to he under the impression that they had a right to pick oysters. That was not so, and as it was not generally known, tho cases had been brought as a warning.
In imposing a fine of 10s in each case Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., remarked that the public should be advised of tho position.
