RURAL CREDITS BILL.
[by telegraph.—special reporter.] WELLINGTON. Friday. Motor taxation in its various forms and (he Dominion's reading problems were discussed at length in the House of Representatives to-day when the committee stages of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill and the Motor Spirits Taxation Bill were taken. Amendments were made to both bills.
Tho Education Amendment -Bill was read a second time and referred to tho Education Committee and the Valuation of Land Bill was put through Committee ■without amendment.
Good progress was made and the MotorJVehicles Amendment Bill and the Valuation of Land Amendment Bill were passed after the supper interval.
By Governor-General's message a number of amendments to tho Rural Intermediate Credits Bill were introduced. The Prime Minister explained that with two exceptions they wero all machinery bmendments. The two exceptions dealt with the treatment of securities and had been asked for by tho Public Trustee and the Treasury. Tho Houso then resumed in Committee on tho Motor Spirits Taxation Bill. This measure was eventually passed with amendment. Tho Local Legislation Bill and the Howard Estate Amendment Bill were passed, and the House rose at 1.5 a.m.
