AHIPARA GUMFIELDS.
NEED FOR FORMED ROAD
TOLL EXACTED BY NATIVES

At a meeting of the Kaitaia Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Wigley said the road from Ahipara to the Ahipara gumfields should be formed. At present gumdiggers going to the field had to pass over native property, for which the natives demanded a considerable toll from the diggers. it was decided to urge the Public Works Department to have the road formed.
