HERD-TESTING RETURNS.
.IMPROVEMENT IN YIELD. FIGURES FOR SEPTEMBER. . [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Sblurday The New Zealand 00-operativi HerdTesting Association's returns for September show an increase compared with the corresponding period last year. During September of this year 47.891 cows were tested by the association, and they yielded an average of 33.281b. of butter-tat per cow for the month. In Septembei, 1926, the 38,364 cows tested yielded an average "of 3&891b. butter-fat. Last year only normal cows were tested, whereas this year all cows in milk were piaced nnder test. The averAge test last month was -4.1 and for Septembei, 1926 the average was 3.9. The increase in the test is attributed to the liberal topdressing applied last autumn. The Waiuku group ol 1747 cows has produced the hest figures, the average yield in that group for Septembe' being 37.811b butter-fat per cow. Manawsru, which headed the list throughout last year, was third, with an average 36.621b. per cow. Most of the members in this group had completed four years' testing and only six of last year's members remained in the group thif year
