The Tauranga Electric Power Board met to-day, Mr. T. Lochhead presiding. The board agreed to a request by the British Trade Cpmmissioner to supply copies of specifications in connection with any calls for tenders that may be made. A request was received to extend the transmission line in Athenree district. The board decided that it was unable to do so at present, but the request would have consideration at the earliest time possible. . , The board expressed disapproval of two suggested amendments to th® Electric Power Boards Act One advocated that the period within which compensation might be claimed for injurious effects of a power boards operations should not be limited, but that claims should be ' admissible within twelve months of the injury. The other amendment sug-* gested was one that would throw upon power boards the absolute liability for * damage caused through the escape of electrical energy. The board also decided to communicate on the subject with Mr C. E Macmillan, M.P., and the Electric Power Boards Association.
The resident engineer reported that an extension in the Tiatikati district had been completed, an extension was being carried oat at Ohauiti, the installing staff was fully occupied and there was no indication of the work slackening. The board decided to set up a new finance committee, comprising Messrs. T. Lochhead, H. J. Gill and C. E. S. Gane.
