MAN LOSES CIVIL RIGHTS.
DEFAULTERS' CAMP URGED.
" We cannot fine all these people, and it would be better to have the old defaulters' camp back again," said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday, during the hearing of several charges under the Defence Act. " Yes, those were the days," agreed SergeantMajor Landman, who represented the department. A fine of £5 and the loss of civil rights for 10 years was the penalty imposed on J. Nicol for failing to attend drilL It was stated he was a consistent offender and ignored all notifications. On similar charges, F. L. Magill and N. W. Steven were fined £3; G. B. Thomson anH T. B. K. Craig, £2; J. H. V. Neilson, 30s; S. Burns, A. E. Hogg, R. Jenkins, T. A. Lee and R. Mason, £1; and C. A. M. Satherley, 10s. F. H. Christiansen, R. Litherland and T. A. Midwinter were convicted and discharged. W. T. Holland and J. Harrison, who failed to register, were fined £2 and 30s respectively.
