MODEST RESCUER.
WARATAH'S PLUCKY ACT. WOMAN BATHER SAVED. LONDON. Oct. 1. The Star tells the story of an unknown hero among the Waratahs (New South Wales Rugby Union football team). While the footballers were training at feignmouth a woman, who was bathing, got out of her depth. Beach attendants were unable to rescue the woman, and* the patrol boat was too far away to be brought to the scene in time. However, a Waratah plunged into the water, fully dressed, and brought out the woman, who was then on the point of drowning. The Waratah refused to give his name, saying: "I am one of the 29. Let it go at that."
