EXCITEMENT IN BELGIUM.
ROYAL EVENT EXPECTED. A. and N.Z LONDON, Oct. 9. The people of Belgium are very excited about the imminent accouchement of Princess Astrid, wife of the Crown Prince Leopold The citizens of Brussels are listening for the booming of 101 guns announcing the birth of a Prince or 51 guns betokening the birth of a Princess. A statement published in News of the World to the effect that, an event of interest to the Empire associated with the Duchess of York was anticipated for November is authoritatively denied as being without a word of ti*uth. Princess Astrid, the niece of King Oscar of Sweden, was married to Crown Prince Leopold of Belgium on November 10, 1926, at the famous old Cathedral of St. Gudule in Brussels. A prior civil marriage had been performed in Stockholm.
