WAIHEKE ISLAND.
PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION. PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN STARTED. Several meetings of residents have been held at Waibeke Island recently, and not long ago the Waiheke Progressive Association was formed. Known to Aucklanders as a summer holiday and week-end resort. Waiheke is rapidly becoming settled, and in the opinion of the business community is destined to become one of the most, important residential districts. At a meeting of the association on Saturday plans for the future were discussed by the executive, consisting of three delegates each from Ostend, Surfdale, Qnetangi, Omiha, Cowes Bay, Wakarite (Palm Beach), Arran Bay and Mftn-o'-War Bay. Mr. F. H. Brown presided. It was decided to proceed at fcnce with an advertising campaign, using the newspapers and other methods. The advantages of Waiheke as a residential district, particularly for retired business men and people of moderate means, will be made known. Mr. F. W. H. Brinsden reported that IV A would shortly broadcast a series of historical and descriptive talks on Waiheke. Committees were appointed -to consider the establishment of a cottage hospital, a central school and a meteorological station, and to discuss the possibility of appointing a resident medical officer and obtaining improvements in the boat and telephone services. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P.; vicepresidents, Mrs. Lush, Mr. F. W. H. Brinsden; committee, Messrs. A. R. Alison, J. Kennedy, A. Inslev, H.
