.—■— REMOVAL OF DUTY URGED. (Eeceired October 7, 7.35 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON, Oct. (5. In order to meet Cuba's proposed bounty of seven dollars a ton on exports the Empire Sugar Federation is conducting a campaign to induce the British Government to remove the 'duty on Empire raw sugar, thereby " increasing preference, stimulating production, assisting British refineries and improving the demand for British machinery. The federation is of the opinion that the realisation of this policy would make the Empire self-supporting, and within ten years the most important sugar producer is the world.
