Mr Robert Bridges, poet laureate, Mr. George Bernard Shaw, and Sir Johnstone Forbes-Robertson are among the experts of the British Broadcasting Corporation s advisorv committee who have just announced a new list of pronunciations for a number of English words. Official radio-casters hereafter thus will be reauired to pronounce housewifery, huzzjfrv"; amateur, "ammaterr"; ate, et ; caoutchouc, "cowchick"; automobile, "automobeel"; sheik ."shake"; nephew, "nevevr," and so forth.
