NEW IDEAS FOR THE HOME.
Screens are always popular. I saw a quaint design of delicately-fretted wood, says an Overseas Correspondent. It was unpolished and set into a varnished frame without a background. A beautiful creation for a boudoir was of painted chiffon, framed in brilliant lacquer. Emerald green glass is the latest fad for ornaments. Buddhas are particularly effective, . and are consequently enjoying an unexpected return to popularity. A strange fashion in plain glass lampstands is for an untinted stand, half-full of water, which, if not actually covered with cobwebs, certainly has the air of having stood for some time. It is shaded, of course, and is completed by the most wonderful lampshade. A new vogue in fluted shades is now obtained with moire. Parchment shades are also edged with ribbon.
