STOLEN CIGARETTES.
THEFT FROM WAREHOUSE. TWO MEN REFUSED BAIL. Stating the men had run when they became aware the police were on their track, Chief-Detective Cummings objected to bail being allowed to Harry Rae and Ernest Rae, charged in the Police Court yesterday with breaking and entering the warehouse of Irving Clarke, Ltd., on September 17, and stealing cigarettes to the value of £6O. Bad was refused and the accused remanded to appear on October 17. The application for bail was made by Mr. Moody, who appeared for accused. "I must object to bail being allowed," the chief detective said. "These men broke into the warehouse and stole a large quantity of cigarettes. They sold some of them at St. Heliers Bay. There is another man in it. They ran away when they knew the police were making inquiries about them."
