OTAHUHU BURGLARIES.

NINE CHARGES ADMITTED. "THE PRISONER'S SONG." The " scare" at Otahuhu caused by the depredations of a prowler was terminated by the crestfallen appearance in the Otahuhu Police. Court yesterday of Frederick Dixon, aged 42, who pleaded guilty to nine charges of breaking and entering and theft from dwellings. Accused's appropriations totalled over £3O in cash, in addition to a handbag, a fountain pen, and other small articles. A statement made by accused revealed a susceptibility to suggestion. In a confession relating to a visit to a house in which he found jewellery valued at about £9O, he said he relinquished the " haul " and made his escape when he heard a voice in the next room raised in a rendering of " The Prisoner's Song." Sergeant Parsons said accused had attributed his lapses to drink. He had a banking account and had promised restitution. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence on the burglary charges, and a summary sentence of 24 hours' imprisonment was imposed on one charge of being found without excuse on premises at night
